Comparison of the efficacy of a gentamicin, miconazole and hydrocortisone aceponate formulation and a florfenicol, terbinafine and mometasone furoate formulation in the treatment of canine otitis externa with a focus on onset of action.3 Eighty-six dogs with acute, nonparasitic, otitis externa were included. Forty-one dogs were randomly assigned to receive Easotic (gentamicin, miconazole and hydrocortisone aceponate; Virbac) and 39 dogs received Claro (florfenicol, terbinafine and mometasone furoate; Elanco Animal Health), as per label instructions. Veterinarians evaluated these dogs before treatment, and on days 2, 7 and 28.

Humans with known or suspected hypersensitivity to hydrocortisone, aminoglycoside antibiotics, or azole antifungals should not handle this product. Contraindicated in dogs with known or suspected hypersensitivity to corticosteroids, imidazole antifungals, or aminoglycoside antibiotics. Do not use in dogs with known tympanic membrane (ear drum) perforation. The safe use of EASOTIC Otic Suspension in dogs used for breeding purposes has not been evaluated. Do not administer orally.
